Choosing the right size
Desktop (1440 × 900) is a safe default for portfolios, proposals and client presentations. It matches a typical laptop or monitor without leaving a lot of empty space at the sides.
Desktop HD (1920 × 1080) is worth using when you want to show how a layout handles a large screen, especially full-width heroes and wide grids.
Phone and tablet presets load the page as a real mobile browser would, with a mobile viewport and touch support. You get the site's actual mobile layout, not a desktop page shrunk down, which is what you want for responsive QA and app-store style mockups.
Full page captures the whole scroll length instead of one screen. It's ideal for design reviews and documentation. Very long pages take longer, and images that only load as you scroll can occasionally come out blank.
Tips and limitations
What you see is what a first-time visitor sees. Cookie banners, chat bubbles and popups appear in the capture if the site shows them on arrival. Pages behind a login can't be captured.
Captures are a single moment. Sliders show their first slide, and animations are caught wherever they happen to be when the screenshot is taken.
Quality 0.85 to 0.9 is a good balance for sharing and presentations. Drop it to around 0.6 for documentation, where file size matters more than fine detail.
If a capture fails, try again in a minute or pick another size. Some sites block screenshot services, and the free services behind this tool have daily limits.
Privacy: the address you enter is sent to the screenshot services (Microlink and WordPress mShots) to capture the page. The image is converted to WebP on your own device. The privacy policy has the details.
